In recent years, beryllium copper alloys have been increasingly used in the mold industry. However, some friends are not clear about how to maintain and repair the mold inserts made of this material. Industry insiders from the beryllium copper forging factory pointed out that the surface of the beryllium copper alloy molds is clean. After each 1,500 to 2,500 pieces are stamped, the molds are washed with kerosene or mold cleaning solution to remove oil stains, iron filings, and other foreign substances, and then dried with compressed air or wiped clean with a dry cloth.

A person from the beryllium copper forging factory stated that after the beryllium copper alloy inserts have been formed approximately 1500 times, there may be some minor bonding points on the surface. At this point, gently polish these formed inserts with ultra-fine oil stones until the surface feels smooth and does not feel rough. During the polishing process with the oil stones, try to repeatedly polish along the direction of the material flow. Remember: Do not use coarse oil stones or sand bricks, sand wheels, or sanding machines for polishing. Doing so will affect the surface finish.

From the sheet material unrolling and cutting process to the stamping operation site, the forging factory optimizes the logistics environment, cleans the surface of the sheet materials, and covers the sheet materials with special covers for storage to prevent them from being contaminated by dust for a long time. It is prohibited for people to step on the longitudinal beam sheet materials, as this may cause sand particles to adhere to the surface of the sheet materials, damaging the surface finish of the mold inserts during the forming process. Once hard particles scratch the mold, even the best lubricating film cannot prevent the scratching.
